Ben August is a Minneapolis based photographer who explores experimental analog photographic processes. He makes unusual and otherworldly photographs through alternative photographic processes, handmade paper and cameras, as well as a variety of analog film. Through experimental and alternative processes, the work is allowed to control some aspects of itself. Using analog film allows for unexpected outcomes which he embraces as signs of the process.

Ben has exhibited at many places throughout the city of Minneapolis. These include New Rules in Northwest Minneapolis, Light Grey Art Lab in Whittier, Cal Surf Skate Shop in Uptown, as well as exhibitions at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. He has worked for the curator of the Ameriprise Headquarters in downtown Minneapolis cataloging, rearranging, and handling well known artists work including Andy Warhol, George Segal, Ai Wei Wei and Nan Goldin. Alongside this, he has assisted companies in event & product photography, design work, as well as social media marketing. Ben has also worked for many core facilities of the MCAD Campus.
